Gratitude paper chains

This week we are going to be thinking about gratitude and being grateful.

Gratitude is a very simple and effective mindful activity. It directs children to focus on what they are thankful for. By making a paper chain of gratitude, you will have the opportunity to either be creative together as a family or to choose to take a peaceful moment to reflect, independently. You can decorate each link with paints or colourful pens, while writing the things you are grateful for. As a family, you could even add a new link each day and then watch as the paper chain grows and see how much you have to be thankful for.

Have fun, get creative, and don’t forget to send me pictures of what you make!

What you will need

  • Paper
  • Scissors
  • Pens/pencils/paints
  • Glue stick

How to make a paperchain

  1. Cut the paper into strips.
  2. Decorate each strip.
  3. Write one thing on each strip that you are grateful for.
  4. Use the glue stick to glue the ends of each strip together, to create a ‘link’ of paper.
  5. Display the paper chain somewhere you can see it and use it as a reminder of all the things you have to be grateful for.

I’m looking forward to seeing your pictures of gratitude paper chains!
